general question_dealing with lists

After a lot of trying and failing…finally my question:

I worked out a geometry, which is based on 4 grid points and a vector, defining orientation and adjustment. gh-file

To adjust this element on my facade I tried to generate a grid in grasshopper, first regular by subdivision, range etc., and now I ended up, to set the points individually in Rhino by hand, to transform it manaully into grasshopper by setting multipe points on one fixed gh-point.

QUESTION:
How can I adjust the 4-point-base-square on the grid?
To automize the adjustment, I have to sort out every (4th?) point to create 4 lists, which each of them form one joint of the base-sqare.
Which is the most elegant method, could somebody give me a hin, unfortunately I’m completely stuck…
(sort list, cull, flatten???)

Question: I have to find out which lines don’t intersect with the louvers

Do you know a way to find the lines which are not intersecting with a surface?

The louvers are not covering the entire facade, that’s why some rays from the viewpoints pass without intersecting. I have to find those areas, where the missing rays would intersect with the volume of the tower and make the louvers wider at those areas.

The difficulty is, that the new point list of the intersecting points doesn’t match the list of the vectors(rays) from the viewpoints. I tried some stuff like find the similar points, between intersecting points with the box and the intersecting points with the louvers… and to find the equal vectors to create a boolean list… it’s all a bit tricky and not so elegant.

Question about image sampler / analysis

Hi!

I’m trying to work with image samplers to use my analysis in my project. I have a gray scale image and I want to visualise and be able to analyse it with sth showing me where it is the lighter and where it is the darker.

I have been able to do that and get circles to show me the differences…

but I’m not sure to understand exactly how to set the number in the image sampler settings and in the grid I’m using…

because I do not get the same result if I make a small grid or if I make a bigger grid, from the real size of the facade.

I have more details with the small grid than with the bigger one. And I don’t get the same result for the smaller/bigger circle…

Does anyone knows why I have this problem/difference??

Animation question

Hey everyone, can anyone give me a good program that can handle 100 images and make an animation out of it? I’ve tried to find some gif program but couldn’t find one which works fine…

Thanks for your answer!

question?? how to find the longest vector

Hi!

I have a group of vectors / or circles and I would like to be able to only use the longest / smallest. I was able to sort out the biggest/smaller lenght of the vectors or the areas of the circles, but then I just have a number, that I cannot use to  figure out which vector/circle it correcponds to.

box and plane surface in VB

How can you create a plane surface / a box in vb.net by it’s corner points?
I wasn’t able to make sense of the information I found in the rhino sdk.

question PATCH in grasshopper

Hi!

Does anyone can tell me if there is a command on grasshopper which make the same as “patch” in Rhino ?? I want to make a surface out of POINTS which are not planar…

Thank you!!

heat map and VB question

I’ve two questions concerning representation and response for the curvature analysis.
First I was trying to create some heatmapping for the curvature representation. Actually it works pretty well, but there are some strange things which are wrong! Sometimes it just makes things red when they should be green – such as more or less straight parts of the curves as you can see in the next image (especially the third and nineth curve counted starting from the top).

The next question is concerning my VB-script: I’m creating an engine which subdivides a curve into pieces of the same length. When the curvature is too high, the resolution increases and the subdivision happens with half of the initial lenght. For better understanding have a look at the folw-chart.

Now to the problem: Actually this engine worked very well with any curve I was drawing, but somehow it gives a big mess by applying to curves of my project… I think it just hates my project!
Anyhow, I was looking for an error very long and I thought you might see something which is done in a bad or too complicated way.

See the first image which works on a “freehand drawn” curve:

And the one applied to one of my tower’s curve:

Here you find the GH-file and it’s VB-code and the corresponding rhino file.

Question!!!!

Hi!

I’ve a question in grasshopper. Is it possible to create a curved surface out of points which are not in the same plan and not in a certain order? If yes could you tell me how??

It would help me a lot!!!

Thank you!

question : vray render

I tried to do a render with vray by applying some vray materials. First is there a way to do quick renderings without getting a perfect result in order to do som tests?

Then I had problems with the transparency. I applied a glass material and changed pretty much all the possible settings but it is still not transparent. I checked the tutorials on the web, but I still didn’t find any way to solve it. Does anyone has an idea what the problem could be?

Thanks!
